My style of painting blends a contemporary approach with traditional subjects and unusual modern textures, a synthesis of expression developed whilst studying for a BA (Hons) and Master’s degree in Fine Art. Using a variety of media, working methods and supports, I create beautiful, vibrant and dynamic paintings from a truly original perspective.
This combination of traditional and contemporary styles and techniques transforms the everyday object or scene into a striking and exceptional piece of imagery, encouraging you the viewer to see and explore subjects in a new light as well as appreciating their beauty.
As a colourist, my love of bright, dramatic and contrasting hues finds vivid expression in my paintings. I often enhance my paintings further by using a deep gloss finish which gives the colours a jewel-like intensity and the painting an added dimension; opacity and transparency form layers of meaning. This high-gloss finish is a particular feature of my work.
